What you can not miss? Tenerife
What you can not miss?

In about three hours, you can drive around the whole island of Tenerife by car. It is an island of contrasts as, within 50 km, you can go from the shore to up in the clouds at more than 2.000 meters above sea level, or from a sandy landscape to a laurel forest

Depending on how much time you have, you will have to choose among the different destinations.

Essential: Las Cañadas del Teide (highest volcano/peak in Spain), Los Gigantes Cliff, and a walk through the Macizo de Anaga.

Charming cities: San Cristóbal de la Laguna, La Orotava or Garachico.

Very touristic places: Puerto de la Cruz with their sea water pools, or the beach of Los Cristianos.

Gastronomy Tenerife
Gastronomy

To taste typical food from Tenerife, we recommend you to visit the northern towns, where you will find the best gastronomic offer with prices to meet all budgets. The populars "Guachinches" stand out, where you will enjoy roasted meats accompanied by good local wine at very affordable prices. Of course, you will have to take a good look around to find the real deal. In the coastal towns you will find restaurants specialised in seafood, where you cannot miss the limpets and you definitely have to try the "papas arrugadas" with "mojo".

What to pack? Tenerife
What to pack?

Tenerife enjoys pleasant temperatures year-round, but there are also microclimates: cooler areas and hotter ones; so it's better to prepare for everything. Take note, according to your travel date:

During the winter: we recommend bringing warm clothing if travelling during the winter, especially if you'll visit higher areas, where usually temperatures reach 0 degrees at certain times of the day or night!

The rest of the year: it is also advisable to bring appropriate footwear if you want to walk along the hundreds of trekking trails that run across the island. And of course, don't forget your towel and bathing costume!

With the service offered by the team of fast ferries Bentago Express and Bencomo Express, the journey between Agaete in Gran Canaria and Santa Cruz de Tenerife, or vice versa, takes only 80 minutes.

This sea link is simple, comfortable, economical and offers you the possibility to take your own car with you so as to make the most of your valuable time.

The trip from Tenerife to Gran Canaria takes you into the picturesque village port of Agaete. This traditional fishing village is just a 20-minutes car journey away from the capital city, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Passengers can also make use of a free bus service between the port and the capital.

Passengers travelling the other way, from Agaete, Gran Canaria, to Tenerife, arrive in the port of the capital city Santa Cruz de Tenerife, just a stone's throw away from the bustling, cosmopolitan centre. With its fast ferries Fred. Olsen Express offers the most extensive timetable ever to join up the two capitals and the increase in capacity for both foot passengers and freight vehicles have brought even more advantages to its users.

Visit Gran Canaria, declared a World Biosphere Reserve, or discover the island of Tenerife, with cities such as La Laguna, on the UNESCO's World Heritage List and model city for developments in the New World. Or take a trip to its impressive National Park, Las Cañadas del Teide, home of the dormant volcano, El Teide, the highest mountain in Spain, at 3.718 meters above sea level, unique symbol of the island.

El Teide

The third highest and largest volcanic structure in the world, and the highest point in the Canary Islands and in all of Spain, deserves a visit. Admiring the vast horizon from this location is something you must experience. On clear days, you can see most of the Canary Islands. If you don't have much time, you can enjoy a visit to the “Las Cañadas del Teide,” enjoying the terrace of the lodging “Parador de Turismo”.

Los Gigantes Cliff

Not many views are as breath-taking as the ones you can enjoy from Los Gigantes Cliff. A beautiful postcard from Tenerife that you will love to take with you.

Masca

The small village of Masca looks like something out of a fairy tale. Between the ridges and mountains, you can find this unique village of small Canarian houses that makes a 30-minutes detour from the main road worth it.

Loro Parque and Siam Park

If you are in the north of the island, you can not miss "the must of the Canary Islands", the Loro Parque: the best zoo in the world, according to TripAdvisor. And if you are in the south, Siam Park, also considered the best in the world  in its category (water parks) by TripAdvisor, is the sure bet if you want to have fun in a big way.

Anaga

Whether on foot, on bicycle, or by car, strolling around Anaga is quite an experience. From the laurel forests to Benijos’ beaches with background of volcanic plugs or “roques,” through the small village of Taganana: a unique and must-do route.

La Laguna and La Orotava

These two urban centres bring together some of the most beautiful streets and buildings typical of the Canary Islands. A walk through their peaceful streets will transport you to an earlier time, and yet you will have plenty of shops and restaurants to top off a unique trip.
